I want to Lose Weight
But we all have to start somewhere
So here I am at the beginning of my journey.
The main aim is to try to get my body
into the best condition possible-
For my plan, I have decided that I will cut for 10 weeks!. Some people might be asking why so short? Well, my theory goes like this.
If you want to get the best bang for your buck! I think you need to always be either in the process of
(1) Cutting - where you're in a slight calorie deficit and trying to get your body in better condition
OR
(2) Bulking - slight calorie surplus and trying to increase muscle size
I'd also like to stress that I.M.O these phases should always have a maximum time limit of 4 months, but I recommend less - with 8 weeks being the minimum.
Regardless of which diet you're on everyone seems to make the most progress up till around the 8-week mark - then everything starts to slow down. At the 3-4 month mark If you're on a bulk your condition starts to suffer a little too much..... let's face it the scales is going UP! but so are then notches on ur BELT!
And as for your cut - at the 3-4 month mark your progress has completely stopped, panic sets in and you drastically cut a huge chunk out of your daily calories expecting it to be the answer- the result is like Barry Scott just sprayed cillit cleaner on your arms - Bang your guns are gone!
When you have reached your time limit (between 8-16 weeks) on your cutting phase ideally your body fat should be significantly lower - and with this, your insulin sensitivity should be at its highest (or at least higher). This i.m.o is the best time to start your bulk.
Now when you're at the complete opposite end of the spectrum - finishing your bulk program generally you've gained a reasonable amount of muscle but you've also increased your fat mass and with this, your insulin sensitivity suffers and I find at this stage you're passed the mark on muscle gain efficiency - yes ur basically started gaining crap!
So that's why I believe you should cycle between cutting/bulking ... I have to be honest, I cringe when I hear people going on a 12-month bulk program... don't fall into that fat trap!
So my diet and training plan is gonna be 10 weeks cutting plan. Wish me luck!
